What can I use my Direct Payments for?

You can use a direct payment budget at Nightingales for the following tasks or support:

Home Care

Personal Care - Washing & Dressing

Practical Tasks - Food, Drinks & Shopping

Outings & Social Events

Nightingales Day Care

Nightingales Night Care

Activities or Short Breaks

How are your payments made?

The council will make a payment into a nominated bank account of your choice, which occurs repeatedly every four weeks. Any additional contribution for your care needs to be via the same bank account, although Nightingales can support you in ensuring you don’t go over your budget. The council may on occasions check this account, so it’s important you use this for your care needs or support that’s essential in your daily living.

You could obtain your payments in a couple of ways, these can include:

Prepaid Card Account

This is setup by the council for you and regular payments can be made for the care of your choice. Prepaid Card Account.

Via a separate bank account

This is where you will be able to monitor you money and budget individually within supporting your care needs

For efficiency, Nightingales recommends that you set-up a separate bank account for this obtaining a different sort code and account number. This will support you in managing the payment process and monitoring your account.
